Steam is effective on mattresses and pillows for both killing bed bugs and removing stains. The best tool to use is the squeegee as this gets the steam closest to the mattress in order to kill the beds bugs. The same tool is used on the steam vacuum system which if used in conjunction with the vacuum removes the dead bugs and allergens from the mattress at the same time.

Place the squeegee on the mattress and pull along the mattress slowly giving time for the steam to do its job. At 135 degrees Celsius or more steam will kill the bugs but it will not work effectively if it is moved along the mattress too fast.
